TEACH ‘EM HOW TO TIDY
6 tips to tidying with kids
1. Do it with a smile
2. Set expectations
3. Be consistent
4. Make it fun
5. Give everything a home
6. Consider spatial limitations
Do it with a smile
If they see you tidying with a smile they will view tidying as something positive.
Set Expectations
Tell them what you're doing before you do it and explain to them the benefits of tidying.
Be consistent
Continue to tidy your home. Encourage your children to tidy with you after play. If they are not up to it that day wait until they nap to tidy. Then, try again later.
Make it FUN!
Try incorporating a "tidy song" or "make it a game" by setting a timer to see who can tidy the fastest.
Give everything a home
Establish a designated space for your children's belongings.
Consider spatial limitations
Be mindful of the amount of space you have and use that as a guideline to determine if the space can accommodate any additional items such as new toys.
